FLORENCE PIRLOT 

 

Florence Pirlot , from belgium, studied at the renowned Art Academy of Braine l'Alleud. Florence's works have this particularity to be in between paintings and mural sculptures. Her technique involves applying with a comb, whitewash and pigments on large metal, steel or stainless steel plates. She explores in her works the densities of the material and the different variations of colors given by raw materials. While using raw materials, Florence Pirlot creates powerful compositions liberating a strong energy and a sense of serenity at the same time.

 

Between inter weavings, round or geometrical shapes, the works are invaded with abstract colorful figures which contrast with the cold material such as metal or steel. Florence plays with the notions of hollow and solid, cold and warm or colors and material, giving the installations an imposing sense of equilibrium.
