New York based painter and visual artist, Denise Marie Stoot, was born and raised in the Netherlands, lived in France, studied in Amsterdam, attended Harvard University School of Law in Massachusetts, then moved to New York City where she lives today.  While working in the finance industry in New York, she studied painting, mixed media and collage at the renowned Art Students League in New York with American artists such as Ronnie Landfield, a modern art painter associated with Lyrical Abstraction and Bruce Dorfman, whose oeuvre includes assemblage paintings and mixed media work.  She also studied drawing at Central St. Martins, College of Art and Design in London. Her large canvases employ a striking array of styles and techniques whilst offering an aesthetic that is colorful, complex and assured in its depth. The work breathes and pulsates beyond line, shape, and color stirring up emotional response: excitement, wonder, contemplation. The conspicuousness of her work stems from the interplay between the immediacy of color and proportion with a structure and overall quality that demands prolonged attention.
She works with acrylic paint, paper collage and mixed media from her studio located in TriBeCa, NYC. Her work is included in private collections in the US, Europe and the Middle East.
